Description

Traynor YBA-3 Custom Special head from the late 60s or early 70s, all tube, serviced and ready to rock, paired with two 1970s 2x12 Traynor cabs loaded with high-powered vintage Electro-Voice speakers.Ive gone through the YBA-3 and made a few necessary updates and repairs, while keeping the circuit as original as possible. I replaced all filter capacitors, installed a new fan to replace the missing original one, replaced a missing endpiece for one of the handles with a vintage one from the same period, installed a brand new quad of JJ EL34s in the power section, installed a grounded 3-prong cord, and put a custom Traynor badge on the front panel. Pre tubes are the original RCA 12AX7s, some beautiful, high-quality old glass. Other than whats mentioned above, the circuit is 100 original as far as I can tell. The head works perfectly and sound absolutely incredible Ill be sad to see it go. I use it primarily for guitar, but it was designed as a bass and works great for both. It puts out a whopping 130 watts and the massive Hammond output transformer can run at 4, 8, or 16 ohm loads, with the option to add an extension speaker. The speaker cabs were originally part of a vintage Traynor PA rig. The internal construction is very robust and features separate plywood compartments for each individual speaker. I replaced the original speakers with vintage, high-powered EV speakersthree EVM-12Ls and one SRO12. Each 2x12 cab is wired in series for a total impedance and power handling of 16 ohms and 400 watts per cab. The YBA-3 can be run with just one of the cabs at an impedance mismatch, or with both due to the parallel output jacks on the head, the two 16 ohm cabs will put an 8 ohm load on the output transformer if used together, which is exactly what the YBA-3 calls for.As with any older rig, there are a few imperfections to note. The output transformer on the head is absolutely massive and one of the mounting points has bent, so the transformer is now at an angle and rests against the bottom of the headshell see pics. This doesnt affect functionality but looks a bit odd from the back. Despite this, the transformer is still securely mounted and no wiring is affected. The head and cabs have some minor cosmetic wear and teara few stains, tears, etc here and there, as pictured.Pickup in Hudson, NY, or I can deliver in the New EnglandNYCTri-State areas for a fee. Not interested in trades unless its a vintage tape echo or something rarevaluable. Thanks for looking
