Description

This engine is a RARE Kermath Sixteen-5 SEA PUP single cylinder water cooled inboard boat motor that was typically installed in 12 to 16 foot and sometimes longer open skiffs or wood fishing boats such as the famous POULSBO style used in Washington state. This engine has a side draft carb and pipe connections for exhaust and cooling water intake and exit. The ignition is a magneto and the flywheel has gear teeth for an electric starter not included the flywheel also has a hub socket for a hand crank also not included and there is also a built in rope pulley, rope not included. At the rear of the engine is the transmission that is a 11 ratio and has forwardneutral reverse gearing and is shifted by a bronze stick-shift that can be mounted on the right or left side of the tranny. The stick-shift has a brazed repair in its mid section. The engine flywheel turns smooth and freely but does not seem to have as much compression as I would like maybe a valve or rings I have owned it for about 30 years and have never tried to start it or anything, I just kept it in my dry garage hoping to find the right boat to put it in, but never did, too many projects I guess. I will include a brass propeller shaft that goes with it, it has on one end a taper with keyway and a nut. That is all I know about it. Shipping arrangements would have to be made by the buyer. My zip is 97368. More things included with this engine, I have a pristeen Kermath booklet about the Sixteen-5 that shows all of the accessories available, specs, boat mounting drawings, price lists and a three page letter from Kermath that is hand signed by Kermaths Sales Manager Thos. F. Grula. The other items is a group of parts that I acquired to go with the KermathBoat project. They are all brass or bronze and are a prop shaft, propeller, shaft skeg, prop shaft support, rudder, lower rudder support, tiller arm and cooling water intake grille. I may consider bartering for a hydraulic wood splitter, stainless steel 7 or 8 insulated stove pipe elbows sections, 3 or 4 square steel tubing, reloading equipment, diamond plate aluminum sheets or Aluminum drift boat
