Description

Mid-Century PH 32 Akademikrone Chandelier by Poul Henningsen for Louis PoulsenBrand new, still in its box. Wired for U.S. use.DesignPoul Henningsen for Louis PoulsenConceptWhen a classic pendant needs to be even more exclusive, the answer is the PH 32 multi-head chandelier. The PH 32 l is a fabulous design icon that is still ahead of the game in terms of shape and function. Poul Henningsen created the 3-shade system back in 1925-1926, when in cooperation with Louis Poulsen he designed the first ls for an exhibition in Paris. Throughout his life, PH sought to create glare-free light that could be directed where it was needed and created soft shadows. The three l heads on the PH 32 Academy chandelier use an approximately 30 cm upper shade with the middle and lower shades smaller. The PH 32 l was designed with a reflective multi-shade system based on the concept of a logarithmic spiral - the focal point of the light source is located in the centre of the spiral, producing diffuse and glare-free light. The PH 32 Academys mouth-blown three-layer opal glass is glossy on the outside and sandblasted matte on the inside. It emits a soft and diffuse downward facing light. The three bright spots are designed on the principle of a reflective three-shade system, which directs the majority of the light downwards. The shades are made of three-layer blown opal glass, polished on the outside, and sand-blasted matte on the inside, resulting in a soft, diffuse light.CreatorPoul HenningsenManufacturerLouis PoulsenDesign Period1960 to 1969Country of ManufactureDenmarkIdentifying MarksThis piece has an attribution markStyleVintage, Mid-Century, Scandinavian ModernMaterials Chrome Plating, Opaline Glass, SteelColorSilver, whiteThis ad is for one chandelier , however there are 5 available.
