Description

1988 36 Canadian Sailcraft Merlin. This is the race version. It has a flat area on bottom from stem to stern to give it lift and speed. It doesnt pound because it rides on top of the waves. The standing rigging is only 3 years old - installed by Mack Sails of Stuart. Running rigging constantly upgraded. Its a very tough boat - Ive sailed thousands of miles offshore in rough conditions and felt totally safe on this vessel. The boat needs to be hauled for a new bottom and thru-hole fittings. Engine Volvo-Penta 2003t 43hp turbo has blow-by but starts right up. We rebuilt engine but couldnt get new pistons and block that are scorched. It has a number 1 genoa, number 3 jib, storm sail, and main from a j-30 - all serviceable sails. No furler, main has lazy-jacks. 500 watts Solar with charge controller and big battery bank runs autopilot and nav lights all night. All nav lights and interior lights are converted to LED. 1500 watt inverter runs microwave and power tools. New Raymarine wheel pilot Ev100 goes with boat if I get asking price.I have salon folding table, stove and all cushions in my garage.Wing keel version draft 5.00 1.52m.I have the original dive platform - we replaced it with a custom outboard motor bracket in case engine failed which we never used.Mooring by Peanut Island may be available for $200 MonthText only please. I ride a motorcycle and cant answer phone calls. This is from Sailboatdata.comThe CS 36 MERLIN, while having similar dimensions to the CS 36 TRADITIONAL, is a completely different design. While it was being produced a purchaser had five pages of options to choose from a Kevlar or fiberglass hull a swim platform or regular transom a 28 hp diesel or a 43 hp turbo a tall or regular rig and by the end, four keel configurations shoal, wing, deep and performance bulb. As a result, other than the 20 or so that went into charter, no two Merlins are alike.Construction standards were high. The hull was hand-laid fiberglass or Kevlar with balsa core above the water and both hull and deck were vacuum bagged.
