The Macgregor 21 is a light weight sailboat originally called the Venture 21. It has a swing keel with a draft of 1.5-5.5 feet. The boat is designed to be easy to transport on a trailer and used primarily for lake sailing in light winds. It is one step up from a sailing dinghy it has a 400 lb. cast iron keel that makes it self-righting and a small cabin that is a comfortable size for children. To perform well in light winds, the MacGregor 21 has a high sail area. A typical cruising sailboat might have a sail area to displacement ratio of 16-18, the ratio for the MacGregor 21 is 30. The large sails make the boat a bit of a handful in Corpus Christi Bay winds. Reviews of the boat say that it sails well under mainsail alone with the keel up I havent tried it. The boat has a new mainsail, a new 100 jib, and an older 75 jib. The trailer is in fair shape but the tongue extension does not work. Both boat and trailer have current registration.
