Designed by Ted Hood and built by Bristol Yachts in Bristol Rhode Island, the B40 is a gentlemans boat with her prominent overhangs, sweet sheer line, low freeboard, undistorted hull shape and narrow beam, this iconic 40-footer set high marks for seaworthiness and style, Agape is a beautiful exle of this classic yacht. Previous owners sailed all around the Chesapeake, while current owners have sailed Agape all down the eastern coastline of the Atlantic and are currently refurbishing the entire vessel. In 2022, an entire refit of the bottom was done with new marine bronze Groco sea cocks installed. The bottom paint was sanded down to the original gel coat which was found to be in great shape. Eleven coats of Interlux Interprotect 2000E barrier coat was applied. Three coats of Interlux Micron CSC was applied on top of barrier coat. On last coat, the red anti-fouling paint was applied while the barrier coat was still tacky. We painted black over the red sequentially as to see when the bottom is ready for its next coat.
